Summary: Skynet is an advanced computer system. The system sends a terminator from the year 2029 to 1984, to kill the mother (Sarah Connor) of her son (John Connor) who will lead the human race in the future against Skynet. A human protector (Kyle Reese) also from the future is sent to protect Sarah.
My Rating: 9/10 A Timeless Classic Must-Watch! My Review: I hadn't been scared in any sci-fi movies before I watched "The Terminator". This movie has a low budget to produce but it broke the box office records after its release. After watching this movie, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen when our human race be taken over by our creations. The protagonist Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a Terminator (T-800, model 101), a cyborg that is programmed to assassinate Sarah, who is the mother of a future resistance leader against the Skynet. The Terminator will stop at absolutely nothing until Sarah is dead! The movie was superb especially the action scenes. The plot is gripping and original. It kept me on the edge of my seat right though the end. The CGI and the other effects were amazing for a 1984 film. This film packs together a powerful punch and it was very enjoyable to watch. Tagline: I'll be back! Interesting dialogues: Kyle Reese: What day is it? The date! Cop in Alley: 12th... May... Thursday... Kyle Reese: [viciously] WHAT YEAR? [after Sarah tries to escape and bites Reese's hand] Kyle Reese: Cyborgs don't feel pain. I do. Don't do that again. Sarah Connor: [weakly] Just let me go! Kyle Reese: Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead. Inspirations: Does technology pose threats to humankind/humanity? In an interview with Stephen Hawking, he states that humans are not going to stop making technological advancement, so humans have to recognise the potential dangers and control them. On the other hand, Roll Carpenter, the creator of an online application that uses artificial intelligence (A.I.) algorithm to chat with humans, believes that "we will remain in charge of the technology for a decently long time and the potential of it to solve many of the world problems will be realised." In my opinion, the A.I. will outsmart human race eventually as seen in The Terminator franchise. I wonder what lies in the future ahead of us, and I'm worried that humans/humanity will be completely wipe out in the future.
